Governor Bala Launches 2023 Livestock Vaccination Campaign Approves Funds For Exercise

Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has officially launched the 2023 Annual Livestock Mass Vaccination Campaign with more than 1million cows and other animals targeted for the exercise.

Speaking while launching the exercise in Kangere, Governor Bala announced the approval for the release of 44 million naira to the Ministry of Agriculture for the conduct of vaccination across the state.

According to him, the Annual Vaccines provide immunity against major Transboundary Animal Disease (TADS) for a period of one year, such, he added, necessitates the need for the annual ritual of vaccinating animals.

Mohammed said , as an improvement in the exercise, New Castle Disease (CD-12) Vaccine has been added to the 2 major vaccines normally administered in the state with Contagious Bovie Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) and Pestes de Pestes Ruminanciumk (PPR).

He said the role of the livestock subsector in the provision of protein for economic empowerment has necessitated the need by his administration to improve veterinary services in the state by
employing 40 veterinary medical students in addition to building a befitting modern veterinary specialist clinics and abattoirs.

He called on the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture involved in the vaccination exercise to remain committed and ensure that all nooks and crannies of the state are adequately covered, calling on benefiting stakeholders to cooperate by massively bringing out their animals to be vaccinated.

Governor Bala therefore assured all stakeholders in the livestock sector of his total resolve to partner with them in order to boost livestock development in the state.
