Prof Isa Ali Pantami Ramadan Tafseer Day 3 Lesson Speak On Verse 34 35 And Half Of Verse 36 Of Chapter 3

All Praises and thanks are due to Allah. We thank Him, we seek His help and we beg for His forgiveness.

The Tafseer 3 today at Annoor Masjeed, Wuse 2, Abuja discusses verses 34 and 35, and half of verse 36, of Chapter 3.

The verses explain that all human beings are from the same family, from Adam to Noah, to Abraham, including the family of Imran, who was the grandfather of Isa (Jesus). In addition, Verse 77 of Surah As-Saffat also shows that the majority of human beings (if not all of them) are the offspring of Noah.

As a result, people are brothers to one another, as they have the same genealogy, back to Adam or/and Noah. That relationship should be the Backbone of mutual respect, care, support, and forgiveness.

The Glorious Qur’an says:

34) Offspring, one of the other (Adam, Noah, family of Ibraheem and family of Imran), and Allah is the All-Hearer, All-Knower.

35) (Remember) when the wife of ‘Imran said: “O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your Place of worship, Masjidul Aqsa), so accept this, from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing.”

36) Then when she delivered her [child Maryam (Mary)], she said: “O my Lord! I gave birth to a female child,” – and Allah knew better what she gave birth to “And the male is not like the female. I have named her Maryam (Mary)…

From the verses, there are many lessons. Some of them are:

1) the origin of human being from Adam, through Noah.
2) Allah answers the supplications of his righteous slaves.
3) The permissibility of making a genuine sacrifice to Allah, or to humanity for the Almighty’s sake.
4) Selecting a good and beneficial name for a child.
5) the name of Isa (Jesus) has been mentioned 25 times in the Qur’an.
6) the name of Maryam (Mary), the mother of Isa (Jesus) has been mentioned 24 times in the Qur’an. Infact, she is the only female mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an by name.
7) Mothers are to be respected and supported for many reasons, including the difficulty and hardship of pregnancy they go through, before giving birth.
May the Almighty Allah make the lessons beneficial to all of us.
