Who is Wole Soyinka?

Babatunde Soyinka Akinwande Oluwole Honorable Wole Soyinka, born on July 13, 1934, is a Nigerian playwright, novelist, poet, and essayist who writes in the English language.

As the first sub-Saharan African to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, he was recognized for “in a wide cultural perspective and with poetic overtones fashioning the drama of existence” in 1986.

In Abeokuta, Soyinka was born into a Yoruba family. He went to University College Ibadan and the University of Leeds in England after attending Government College in Ibadan.
