Joe Ajaero was a research officer with the One Mechanised Infantry Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, for his NYSC from 1990 to 1991. From 1992 to 2001, he was a reporter/correspondent and assistant news editor at Vanguard. Between 2001 and 2005, he was the Head of Training/Information at the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE).

In 1990 and 1991, Joe Ajaero completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and began his career as a research officer with the Nigerian Army’s One Mechanized Infantry Division in Kaduna. Later, from 1992 to 2001, he worked for Vanguard Newspapers as an assistant news editor and reporter/correspondent.

In 2001, Ajaero began working with the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), where he was first employed as the Head of Training and Information. He advanced through the ranks and was appointed National President in 2005.

Joe Ajaero has stayed dedicated to the cause of improving the welfare and working conditions for Nigerian power workers during his tenure in this capacity. In addition, he has boldly voiced his opposition to government initiatives that, in his opinion, violate workers’ rights and welfare.
