Bauchi Governor Reiterates Commitment To Welfare And Well-Being Of Corp Members

Welcomes the 2024 Batch “A” Corps members to Bauchi.

On Tuesday, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State informed the public that his administration is always ready and eager to safeguard the welfare, security, and well-being of corps members sent to the state for national service.

The Governor, who made the assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I of the Corps Members at the State NYSC Orientation Camp in Wailo, urged the corps members to see the exercise as a clarion call to contribute their quota to the development and advancement of a greater and better Nigeria.

Governor Bala Mohammed expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme for the critical role it has played in shaping and mentoring youth to participate in the government’s laudable programs and policies over the years, which has helped to accelerate the country’s growth and development in all spheres of human endeavor.

Represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the Governor stated that the Scheme’s outstanding role in developing democracy, notably the patriotic role done by Corps Members, has contributed to restoring confidence and stability to the electoral system.

“I warmly welcome you to Bauchi State, dubbed “The Pearl of Tourism”. I want you to consider your deployment to the state as God’s will. I must acknowledge that the three (3) weeks of the orientation exercise will require you to demonstrate strength, discipline, tolerance, and some level of sacrifice. However, rest certain that all of these will serve as the foundation for your future, individually and collectively.

“There is no denying that the NYSC Scheme has proven to be a significant unifying element among our kids from diverse ethnic, religious, and academic backgrounds. The Scheme has also instilled in the youth a sense of work ethic, patriotism, and service devotion. This is evident in Corp Members’ activities, which have favorably impacted the country’s socioeconomic development through communal efforts.

“I am also aware that during this orientation exercise, many of you will be instructed on the fundamentals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), and other topics. I encourage you to participate in all camp activities fully. It is worth noting that the NYSC Scheme’s relevance in today’s Nigeria is undeniable and positively overwhelming; therefore, you face the problem of continuing the scheme’s noble role in nation-building.”

He once again emphasized the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to giving top priority to the security of corps members in any area of the state, with a mandate to the security agencies and community leaders not to rest on their oars in creating a conducive atmosphere.
