Randall Coy Gibbs (December 9, 1972 – November 6, 2022) Randall Coy Gibbs (December 9, 1972 – November 6, 2022) [3] spent time in the country working as an assistant coach for the Washington Redskins, competing in NASCAR, and co-owning Joe Gibbs Racing.

The driver’s son is Joe Gibbs, a five-time NASCAR Cup Series owner champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. Gibbs lived in Cornelius, North Carolina, with his wife Heather and their four children, sons Ty, Case, and Jett, and daughter Elle. Gibbs is a native of the city of Fayetteville in the state of Arkansas.

Coy Gibbs Football Career

Gibbs was a linebacker for Stanford University between 1991 and 1994. He led his squad in tackles made during his senior season. He joined the team the same year his father was rehired as the Redskins coach in 2004, serving as an assistant for offensive quality control until the end of the 2007 campaign.


Gibbs Racing Career

In the 2000 Craftsman Truck Series, Gibbs made his NASCAR debut. Throughout that season, he and his brother J. D. alternated behind the wheel of the No. 18 Chevrolet. He began racing full-time in 2001, and in both 2001 and 2002, he came in at number 10 in the overall points standings. He had two top-five finishes.

He replaced Mike McLaughlin in the Busch Series in 2003. He placed second in the Rookie of the Year competition that year behind David Stremme, who took first position, and had two top ten finishes. He made the decision to put his racing shoes away for good at the conclusion of the season.
