Bamba Bakya Biography
Bhakkiyaraj, also known by his stage name Bamba Bakya, was an Indian Tamil playback singer and musician who lived from October 31, 1980, until September 2, 2022. He mostly collaborated on multiple film projects with soundtrack composer A. R. Rahman. After A. R. Rahman requested that he perform songs for him in the style of well-known South African musician Bamba, he was given the moniker Bamba Bakya. Later on, it became both his stage moniker and personal identity. His distinctive baritone was widely recognized.
He was a part of the 2010 Raavanan movie, starring alongside A. R. Rahman in the song “Kedakkari” (where he was given the credit Bhakyaraj at the time).
