Kunal Nayyar is an Indian actor who was born on April 30, 1981 (/knl na.r/, kuu-NAHL NY-r; Hindi: ). He played Vijay in the Nickelodeon animated series Sanjay and Craig (2013–2016) and portrayed Raj Koothrappali on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019). Additionally, Nayyar made appearances in the movies Consumed (2015), Trolls (2016), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), The Scribbler (2014), Dr. Cabbie (2014), and Sweetness in the Belly (2019). In 2015 and 2018, according to Forbes, Nayyar was the third-highest-paid television actor in the world, with earnings of $20 million and $23.5 million, respectively.

Nayyar was born on April 30, 1981, to an Indian and Punjabi immigrant family in Hammersmith, London. His family moved back to India when he was three years old, and he grew up in New Delhi, where his parents currently reside. He went to St. Columba’s School, where he competed on the school badminton team.

In order to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance at the University of Portland in Oregon, Nayyar immigrated to the United States in 1999. While pursuing his degree, he started taking acting classes and participated in a number of school productions.
