Eligibility For Waikato International Excellence Scholarship

All undergraduate and graduate programs are acceptable, except for the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

To qualify, candidates must:


  • Be requesting full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree at the University of Waikato as a first-time foreign student;
  • Have been granted a place at the University of Waikato, either unconditionally or subject to conditions, including a pathway offer for a degree packaged with the University of Waikato’s Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies, Certificate of Attainment in English Language, Certificate of University Preparation, International Diploma (Business), International Diploma (Computer Science), or Diploma of Postgraduate Preparation (Pre-Masters).
  • Possess a B+ minimum GPA equivalent in the program used to obtain admission to the University of Waikato.
  • Not have paid fees at the time of application, nor have they been enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate degree at the University of Waikato.
  • Neither be attending the University of Waikato through a study abroad or student exchange program nor be attending the University of Waikato on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement.
