Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s mother, ‘Rajmata’ Madhavi Raje, died at AIIMS in New Delhi.
She was a member of Nepal’s royal Rana dynasty before marrying Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia in 1966, and she quickly rose to prominence in Gwalior’s social and cultural life.
She was involved in humanitarian endeavors and established the Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II gallery at the Gwalior Palace Museum.

BHOPAL: Madhavi Raje Scindia, mother of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, died on Wednesday morning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), her family said.
She died at approximately 9.28 a.m. in the hospital, where she had been receiving treatment for several months.
“It is with deep regret that we inform you that Rajmata (Madhavi Raje Scindia) has died.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s mother, Madhavi Raje, the Rajmata of the Gwalior royal dynasty, has been receiving treatment at AIIMS in Delhi for several months, according to a statement from Scindia’s office.
Jal Vilas Palace authorities confirmed that she will be cremated in Gwalior on Thursday.
Madhavi Raje Scindia was born into the Nepalese royal family and married Madhavrao Scindia in 1966. Her grandfather, Juddha Shamsher, was Nepal’s Prime Minister from 1932 to 1945.
She was a philanthropist who worked in various departments of charity, including education and healthcare.
Madhavi Raje Funeral and Condolence Wishes
An obituary notification from Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chitrangada Raje Singh, and their families stated that cremation would take place after 7 p.m. today.
“We are profoundly grieved to announce the demise of our dear mother, Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia, on May 15, 2024, at 9.30 a.m.
“She spent her last moments with her family,” the statement read.
“She will be at her apartment at 27 Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, from 3 pm to 7 pm on May 15, 2024. “She will then be taken to Gwalior for cremation,” it added.
The family expressed “profound grief and sorrow” in their notice.
VD Sharma, the BJP state president, expressed his condolences on the passing via the social networking site X (previously known as Twitter).
He said, “I was heartbroken to learn that the illustrious Rajmata of Gwalior, Madhavi Raje Scindia, is no longer.
May she have eternal peace in her heavenly home.
I ask God to give her family and loved ones the strength to cope with her loss.”
