LAGOS STATE: Supreme Court Rules In Favor of Hijab Wearing

The Lagos State Government has publicized the ruling against the prohibition of Hijab amongst students in schools by the supreme court on Monday 5th December, 2022. Number of cases have been recorded over time which led to the law suit filed by Muslim students in May 2022.

Lagos High court ruled against the hijab wearing in schools in October 2014 which was appealed in 2016. The government of Lagos has banned the hijab wearing that it was not the approved school uniform code.

the decision whichever  was overturned due to the violation of right of freedom of religion to all Muslims in the state  which the1999 constitution has allowed.  all the five-Man panel constituted on Lagos Hijab Ban Appeal set aside the judgment of the Lagos High court and declared the hijab is a constitutional right of the female pupils.
