Born on March 23, 1994, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known by his stage name Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and pianist. The singer found him on Twitter after he posted a version of Davido’s song “The Money”.

Mayorkun released his debut single “Eleko” under Davido’s record label DMW, where he was signed from 2016 to 2021. In November 2018, Mayorkun released The Mayor of Lagos, his debut studio album. Due to poor compensation, Mayorkun left his bank job to look for another in February 2016, the same month Davido noticed his cover video. After giving him a follow on Twitter and Instagram, Davido enquired as to whether he was capable of more than just keyboarding. On the day he signed his letter of resignation, he received a call from Davido and forwarded him some of the songs he had previously recorded. He was chosen by Davido to join Davido Music Worldwide.

In 2016, Mayorkun dropped his debut track under the “Eleko” label. On May 1, 2016, the song debuted at number 9 on the Nigeria Playdata charts. On May 28, 2016, it reached number 5. In the first ten days, the song’s video received one million views. Mayorkun has several singles to his credit, including Mama, Yawa, Sade, and Che Che. In advance of his first studio album, “The Mayor of Lagos,” he released the songs “Posh” and “Fantasy,” featuring Olu Maintain, in October 2018.[16] November 16, 2018, saw the release of the Lagos Mayor. It debuted on the Billboard World Albums chart on December 1, 2018, reaching a high position of number 15.

He was one of the performers lined up for the 2020 Vanguard Personality Awards at the Convention Center of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Other artists on the schedule were Timaya, Tekno, and plenty of others.
