Five Dead, Several Injured in Kerosene Tanker Explosion at Kubwa Market, Abuja
A tragic fire incident struck the Kubwa Village Market in Abuja on the evening of Friday, November 5, following the explosion of a kerosene tanker.
The blast resulted in the death of five individuals, with more than ten others seriously injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, the inferno broke out shortly after the explosion, engulfing parts of the market and completely burning down two shops.
Police Launch Forensic Investigation
In an official statement, FCT Commissioner of Police CP Babaji Sunday described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed the initiation of a forensic investigation by the command’s Criminal Investigation Department.
“Operatives have been deployed for a discreet investigation. We must uncover the root cause,” said CP Babaji.
He also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and commended both first responders and bystanders for their efforts in containing the blaze before emergency services arrived.
