The second woman, Hajia Nana Shettima, was born on July 2, 1975, in Kano State. Her mother’s name is Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albashir, while her father, Alhaji Usman Alkali, is a Kanuri from Borno State. She is her father’s third kid.

Early on, Nana Shettima enrolled in an Islamiyya school in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. She next attended Lamisula 1 Primary School in Maiduguri, where she graduated in 1988 with her first diploma.
