Meet Maryam Shu’aibu Usman (Junaidiyya Gidan Badamasi)

Who exactly is Maryam Shu’aibu Usman?

Maryam is a mother and an actress. Jos Plateau State is where I was born and reared, and I completed both my primary and secondary education there.

After completing my secondary education, I got married and had a son, therefore I decided not to continue with my studies.

My marriage tragically ended after that, but somewhere along the way, I was given the chance to fulfill a childhood ambition of mine: acting in Kannywood.

As a result, I am now an actress in the Hausa entertainment industry.

Did you dissolve your marriage to work at Kannywood?

To be honest, I detest it when people make such accusations—or perhaps I should say assert that I ended my marriage in order to pursue a career in movies.

People tend to forget that I’m only human, and everything that occurred to me could potentially happen to anyone else.

Yes, my marriage ended in divorce, just like many other couples. People ought to quit claiming that I ended my marriage to pursue a career in cinema. That’s all that was predetermined to happen with my marriage.

In summary, contrary to what some have surmised, I did not dissolve my marriage to join Kannywood or for any other reason.

How did you enter Kannywood?

Acting has always been my childhood dream, as I’ve mentioned. After my marriage failed, I went to Kano State to see my aunt who lives there.

Luckily, while I was staying at my aunt’s house, I got to know someone who knows people in the Hausa film industry, and he extended an invitation for me to visit one of the locations where the films are being shot. That was my first interaction with the business.

After being introduced to the film industry by Ahmed Shanawa and Nura Mustapha, I worked on a variety of projects until I was invited to audition for the TV show “Gidan Badamasi.”

Could you describe your first day on set for us?

During my first set, I felt extremely inexperienced and anxious, as if I were being put on trial. God be praised, I was able to get over my anxiety, but it required a lot of support from coworkers and the directors to help me relax. Kuaran Mata, Gidan Badamasi, Uku sau Uku, and numerous other movies are among the ones I worked on.

Did your decision to join Kannywood encounter any opposition from friends or family?

I did, in particular, learn from my parents. Over time, though, I managed to persuade them that acting is not a pastime as it was portrayed to be, but rather a career that is similar to any other and can be pursued lawfully.

They gave me their blessings and requirements after giving me a number of explanations. That’s how I made my way up to this point in the film industry.

Do you regret entering this field?

Not at all; creating movies is exactly like any other kind of business one might do to support themselves.

For me, it’s about making a living legally and doing my part to advance societal orientation and, consequently, national growth.

How did you become cast in the TV series Gidan Badamasi as Junaidiyya?

The script was written for a young woman who could pass for a gold digger and marry an elderly, wealthy man who had several children.

I saw the post for the position, applied, was given an audition, and was fortunate enough to be cast.

In actual life, would you do something like that?

No, Absolutely not; I merely played the part as it was outlined in the script. True love—as opposed to superficial love—is what I really believe in.

Do you mean that you haven’t used social media lately?

It’s not that I’ve made the decision to disappear from social media, but the reality is that not everyone who uses it comprehends its purpose.

I purposely refrained from speaking on contentious subjects, particularly those of my constituency, to prevent being misquoted or misinterpreted.

What truly brings you joy?

When I recall that I am extremely fond of my child. I am constantly grateful to God for giving me life.

Why do you get angry?

I get quite upset when people assume that I left my marriage to pursue my career as a filmmaker.

Do you currently have a relationship going on?

Yes, I am in a relationship at present.

Does he hail from Kannywood?

Yes, He is from the industry, but you will all get to know him in due course, so don’t ask me who he is right now.

Does she want Alhaji Badamasi’s money to marry Junaidiyya?

On this Thursday, February 6, 2022, the long-running comedy show Gidan Badamasi is back on the Arewa 24 channel.

The program that was launched was about taking Alhaji Badamasi’s family members to the rehabilitation center as a result of the scandal they had with him, where Alhaji Badamasi revealed his intention to marry a Santali girl called Junaidiyya.

After returning from this camp, Alhaji Badamasi went on foot to Junaidiyya’s house to discuss with her parents about their marriage and to pay millions of money demanded by Junaidiyya’s ex-boyfriend who said he killed her brothers while he was asking for her marriage.

Alhaji Badamasi’s love of money said that this money is too much for him, and he doubts whether the money is even that much or not.

It remains to be seen whether Alhaji Badamasi will pay these fees in order to be able to own Junaidiyya as his wife. Only time will tell.
