Legal issues

They arrested him for possessing marijuana after checking his car and discovering marijuana in the side door. Brown said he had borrowed the car from a friend and denied having any ownership of the marijuana.

After getting into a fight with his then-girlfriend in public on February 28, 2016, Brown was taken into custody in Torrance, California, and charged with domestic assault, obstruction of justice, drug possession with intent to sell, and possession of contraband while incarcerated. He hit her in a police station parking lot, drawing the attention of the authorities. They discovered that he was in possession of the stimulant drug methamphetamine at the time of the event.

Brown was ultimately taken into custody by police on March 18, 2016, in Barstow, California, after police were called to a private residence in response to complaints of a domestic disturbance between Brown, his girlfriend, and his girlfriend’s mother. Brown faced additional charges of domestic battery, drug possession, and resisting arrest. After being released from Barstow jail, he missed another court appearance and a warrant was issued for his arrest. This time, he escaped to Nevada and was eventually found by bounty hunters. As Brown was leaving a nearby hotel that was well-known for its prostitution and illegal drug sales and use, he was detained by police on June 5, 2016, in Las Vegas.
