
Jamila Sadi Biography
Jamila Ahmad, popularly known as Jamila Sadi, born in 1965 in Whona village, Adamawa State, is a pioneering Nigerian international maritime lawyer and naval officer.
She joined the Nigerian Navy in 1988 and became the first northern woman to be promoted to Commodore in December 2017, marking a historic milestone.
Despite lacking formal admission initially, she self-prepared and gained entry to study law at the University of Lagos, earning a master’s degree in constitutional and criminal law in 2004 and another in international maritime law from Malta in 2009.
Jamila has been active in promoting women’s participation in uniformed services, inspiring young girls through events like the 2018 International Women’s Day organized by the Nigerian Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
