Bayanni Early Life & Education
On June 25, 1997, Bayanni was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, where he also spent his formative years with his family. He mentioned that he comes from a well-known family that is highly known for its moral values and altruistic activities. His parents raised him as a Christian, making sure he learned the lessons of the Bible at a young age.
When he was younger, Bayanni liked to watch television, listen to music on the radio, or listen on his phone or cassette player. He became familiar with the sounds of Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, R&B, Fuji, Highlife, Soul, and Pop from listening to music by African and Western artists. He had been interested in music since he was young, but he was able to put that desire to work in the neighborhood church chorus. While he was in the choir, he began to refine his compositional skills and perfect his voice powers.
After completing his elementary education at one of Lagos State’s top schools and earning his first school leaving certificate, he continued his secondary education at one of the state’s most prestigious institutions and passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Right now, he is enrolled as an undergraduate at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), located in Ile-Ife. His schooling has been temporarily suspended because of the ongoing work stoppages (walkouts) by academic staff unions.
Bayanni made the early decision that he wanted to be a professional musician, and instead of concentrating on gospel music, he chose to concentrate on pop music. He began penning Afropop and Afrobeats songs in the comfort of his parent’s house and his college dorm room, having been influenced by well-known artists such as Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Olamide. Within a few months after sharpening his compositional talents, he also went to nearby recording facilities to record his tunes. His musical prowess won him the acquaintance of multiple sound producers in Lagos and Ile-Ife, with whom he quickly became friends.
Even with a busy academic schedule, Bayanni managed to find time for music composition. He succeeded because he put his passion first and followed it. This characteristic caused him to become well-known in the OAU music scene very quickly, and he started getting requests for collaboration and invitations to perform at university-hosted events. Bayanni began recording covers of popular songs to further his career, which he posted on social media. In April 2021, he recorded and made available a version of Ckay’s Felony. He covered Davido’s song Jowo on October 14, 2021. Five days later, on October 19, 2021, he published a cover of Peru by Fireboy DML.
On April 12, 2022, Bayanni released his much-awaited single, “African Beauty.” Michael Synx mixed the song, which was produced by Blaise Beatz. The music video for the song, which was also released that day, was made by Pharouk Damilola Films. African Beauty has amassed thousands of streams and downloads since its release. The song is rising gradually in the Afropop charts across the country. The soulful performer may also be heard on Duro (with Preschool), BMW, and Ballerina.
