Alpha P, whose real name is Princewill Solomon Emmanuel, was born and raised in Benin City, in the southern Nigerian state of Edo. On February 26, 2002, he was born in Edo state into a family of seven, consisting of two sisters and two brothers. Alpha P wrote gospel music at a young age while attending the Christ Embassy church on Ekenwan Road in Benin City, Edo state. He is similar to Rema, who rapped gospel music.

No, he didn’t sing in the choir because he didn’t think it was cool. But until 2018, he was a part of the religious youth singing ensemble 7th Dimensions. In an interview with Wale Oloworekende, Alpha P related stories of touring major venues in Benin with 7th Dimension.

Because they grew up together, Alpha P’s sound can be compared to that of Jonzing World star Rema; yet, their professional paths are different. He and Rema used to be the leaders of a music group called RNB. After emerging victorious in the second season of Pikolo’s Dream Alive talent competition, they inked a record deal with Peak Entertainment and issued their first single, “Mercy.” Both singers haven’t been heard performing together since 2013. Whyte House Pictures directed the music video for the song, which was recorded at Dream Alive studio in Benin City.

Alpha P was inspired by artists such as Wizkid, Wande Coal, D’banj, Banky W, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, as well as Canadian singers PartyNextDoor and Drake. His first track, “Boom,” led to deals with music promoters in Benin City.

He was connected to Universal Music by a man named Bizzle, whom his manager had introduced to him. In November 2019, he secured a contract with the Universal Music Group. Other celebrities including Tekno, Nasty C, Larry Gaaga, Nonso Bassey, Idahams, KiDi, and others are signed to the record company.

He released a 5-track EP titled “King of the Wolves” after signing with Universal Music Nigeria, which featured the hit song “Paloma.” DJ Tunez’s remix of the song has received 1.5 million views so far. Tunez On the song “Cross my heart,” he also worked with Tellaman, a South African musician.

After Rema and Alpha P., also known as RNA, split up, Bizzle Osikoya, a former A&R executive at Mavin Records, got a record deal with Universal Music Nigeria in 2019. He started working on his debut project as soon as he signed with Universal. King Of The Wolves’ signing and release were announced on November 15, 2019, by Universal Music on Instagram.
During his media tour, Alpha P made a stop at Soundcity 98.5 Lagos on March 13, 2020, where he discussed the narrative behind his EP with Sheye Banks. YouTube launched an Online African Music Festival called “Stay Home… #WithMe” on March 28, 2020, while the country was under lockdown. Using YouTube, Alpha P played each song from Universal Music Studio in Lagos for King of the Wolves.
“Paloma,” the album’s lead song, served as the project’s foundation. Despite the controversy surrounding the record, fans compared it to Rema “Dumebi.” Alpha P gave a live performance of “More” on the Cool FM AUX Africa broadcast on February 8, 2020. Paloma made its debut on Joe Kay’s Apple Music 1 Soulection radio show on November 28, 2020.

Other releases

DJ Tunez released an Amapiano version of “Paloma” through Universal on May 13, 2020. The song’s original version was released after it had amassed over 900k views on YouTube.

Who is Alpha P?
