Benso revealed on Twitter that he had been mistaken for the artist and that’s why he changed his name to BNXN, which is pronounced like his first name, Benson.

On July 14, 2022, Ruger was interacting with his fans on Twitter when he made fun of Buju in response to a question: “If his record label boss D’Prince had told him that Buju BNXN was a better singer and his granddad in music.” Ruger pointed out that Ruger’s hits were completely original to him, unlike BNXN’s, which featured features or covers of other musicians’ songs, like Buju’s. The singer added that he is always honored to play his hit songs on stages all over the world and watch as people spontaneously start singing along.
