PSG Display No Interest in Letting Star Striker Mbappe Leave in January
Despite swirling speculation and media noise, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has made it clear: Kylian Mbappe is not leaving in January.
Rumors emerged again this week, suggesting the French superstar might be plotting a winter exit, with Spanish media claiming he was seen heading to Madrid for a bullfight.
But Mbappe quickly shut that down, sharing on social media that he was attending a charity event in Nîmes.

A Recurring Theme
A source close to the player told Sky Sports News, “He wants to leave every week.” But the same source added that it’s a cycle of conflict and reconciliation:
“They’ll probably kiss and make up, but this will keep flaring up again and again.”
So what’s behind the discontent?
Frustration With His Role and Broken Promises
Mbappe is reportedly unhappy playing as a central striker under Christophe Galtier’s system.
He prefers operating off a traditional No. 9 rather than being the focal point himself. His cryptic social media hashtag, #pivotgang, hinted at that discontent.
Beyond tactics, there’s tension with teammate Neymar, an issue that’s lingered for years.
And according to insiders, Mbappé feels that PSG failed to keep key promises made when he agreed to extend his contract last summer.
“He thought Neymar would leave, but Neymar’s still here and performing well. He also expected more say in the club’s transfer strategy. That didn’t materialize,” said Sky Sports analyst Kevin Hatchard.
So, Where Could Mbappe Even Go?
Real Madrid had been the clear favorite before his contract renewal.
But after being snubbed, it’s unclear if the Spanish giants would still pursue him, especially at a cost nearing £200 million.
Clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United have been mentioned, but financial and tactical realities make a deal complex.
Mbappe may be unhappy, but few clubs can match PSG’s valuation or offer the influence he currently holds in Paris.
PSG’s Stance | Firm and Unfazed
Club sources have dismissed the constant leaks from Spanish outlets as “complete rubbish” designed to destabilize their project.
PSG isn’t entertaining any talks about selling Mbappé mid-season. The club remains focused on its Champions League ambition, with Mbappé still central to that mission.
