Tomi Thomas Biography
After professional success with the Nigerian group L.O.S. (Loud on Sound), Tomi Thomas struck out on his own in 2014, igniting the Afro-pop world with his solo debut, Patience. He released more singles after that, including his Hopeless Romantic EP from 2021.
Thomas was born in Lagos and raised in Kano, a city in the north, before moving back to the capital with his family. An enthusiastic performer from childhood, he entered the music industry fast and joined the Nigerian Afro-pop group L.O.S. After the group released several albums, Thomas made his solo debut with Patience in 2014. Thomas gained notoriety fast by fusing Afro-pop with R&B, hip-hop, and dancehall; songs like “Ready or Not” featuring GMK peaked on the Nigerian charts.
2016 saw the release of Thomas’s first album, Black Couch, Vol. 1, and the Illusion EP, which he co-produced with fellow Nigerian producer LeriQ. 2020 saw the release of “Hopeless Romantic” and a remix with UK dancehall performer Stylo G. Together with dancehall icon Buju Banton, he released the Hopeless Romantic EP in 2021.
