Later, Strauss finished in the top 5 of the 2011 Miss South Africa pageant, with Melinda Bam emerging victorious. Three years later, she competed again on behalf of Bloemfontein and won the title of Miss South Africa 2014.
Strauss was anticipated to participate at Miss Universe 2014 and Miss World 2014 as Miss South Africa 2014. When competing in the Miss World 2014 pageant in London, United Kingdom, Strauss was asked, “Why should you be the next Miss World?” in the concluding round of questions and answers.
