Born on April 22, 1992, Rolene Strauss is a physician and beauty queen from South Africa. She was crowned Miss World 2014 in London after winning Miss South Africa 2014. She is the third Miss World winner to come from South Africa, having been won in 1958 by Penelope Anne Coelen and in 1974 by Anneline Kriel.

Currently serving as chair of The Strauss Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is Strauss.

In December 2014, Strauss got engaged to D’Niel Strauss (not related). Later, on February 6, 2016, they were wed at Somerset West’s Laurent Wedding location. At the age of fifteen, Strauss took home her first championship in 2007 after winning the Elite Model Look South Africa competition. Later, Strauss finished in the top 5 of the 2011 Miss South Africa pageant, with Melinda Bam emerging victorious. Three years later, she competed again on behalf of Bloemfontein and won the title of Miss South Africa 2014.

Strauss was anticipated to participate at Miss Universe 2014 and Miss World 2014 as Miss South Africa 2014. When competing in the Miss World 2014 pageant in London, United Kingdom, Strauss was asked, “Why should you be the next Miss World?” in the concluding round of questions and answers. In response, Strauss said the following:

I think my book’s narrative has greater significance than its cover. Being a patriotic South African, I can attest to the existence of harmony, respect, and forgiveness; these are the goals shared by the Miss World Organization. Thus, it would be incredible to represent a company that gives the globe hope.

At the conclusion of the competition, she was declared Miss World 2014, making history as the third South African to win the title since the pageant’s founding in 1951. She was unable to compete at Miss Universe 2014 as a result. Her first runner-up, Ziphozakhe Zokufa, took the title of Miss South Africa 2014 and represented the nation in the Miss Universe 2014 pageant.

Following her victory as Miss World 2014, Strauss started her duties as the titleholder. To fulfill her duties as Miss World, she has since visited a number of countries, including Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Kenya, Jamaica, Cameroon, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Being the first and only Miss World from the 2010s to be called to judge at a Miss World finals, Strauss accepted the invitation to serve as a judge for Miss World 2018.
