On September 1, 1959, Kyoko Ito was born in Japan. Her acting credits include Daigoro vs. Goliath (1972), Angel Guts: Red Porno (1981), and Fallen Angel Gang (1981).

Ito, who was attending a nearby college at the time, first saw Cuomo in 1997 at a performance in Cambridge, Massachusetts (either at a solo Rivers Cuomo concert at T.T. the Bear’s Place, or a Homie gig at The Middle East, based on Karl Koch’s account).

On June 18, 2006, the couple got married in Malibu, California. Currently, the pair travels to Japan on multiple occasions a year to see her parents. Mia Cuomo, born in 2007, and Leo Cuomo, born in 2012, are their two children.

Kyoko was an editor and translator for PingMag, a Tokyo-based magazine, before moving to the United States. Cuomo paid her multiple visits to Japan before her final move.

Kyoko Ito graduated from Kyoto University with a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in energy science in 1999, 2001, and 2004, respectively. Her research and teaching focus is on computer-supported communication systems and human-computer interaction.
