Genoveva Kenechukwu Umeh (born May 8, 1995), better known as Genoveva Umeh, is a British-Nigerian actress.
She was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award 2022 for her performance in ‘A Tune Away’.
She was also praised for her appearances in Nigeria’s first Netflix original criminal thriller series, ‘Blood Sisters’, and the young adult series ‘Far From Home’.
One of her major film roles was in 2019’s ‘One Lagos Night’. She also stars as Shindara in Episode 4 of Showmax’s Original Drama series ‘Crime and Justice Lagos’ 2022.
She earned the best supporting actress award at the 2024 AMVCA for her portrayal in Breath of Life (2023 film).

Genoveva Umeh was raised in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
She was born on May 8, 1995, in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria, to Gaius Umeh, a computer engineer, and Nurse Ifeoma Umeh.
She lived in Enugu until the age of 12 and attended Command Children’s School in Enugu.
Genoveva attended Command Day Secondary School in Enugu for her first year of secondary schooling before migrating to the United Kingdom with her family in 2006.
She finished her secondary and A-level studies at St Marys C of E High School in London, United Kingdom.
Genoveva fell in love with acting in high school and went on to pursue it by successfully finishing a term at Identity School of Acting in the UK in 2012.
During the summer holidays, she acted in a couple plays at London’s Hammersmith Theatre.
She then graduated with honors from the University of Surrey in England with an LLB Law degree.
Genoveva Umeh Career
Genoveva relocated to Lagos, Nigeria, in 2018 to further her acting career. She developed and performed HOME, a one-woman stage piece that debuted at the Lagos Fringe Festival in Nigeria and a year later in Bloemfontein, South Africa
She also appeared as Lami in Rue14 studios stage play, ‘High’ to shed light on substance misuse among youth in December 2018 and 2019.
Genoveva landed her first leading part in the 2020 film “A Tune Away,” which garnered her a nomination for Best Actress at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
In 2019, she made her on-screen debut with a small role in ‘Love is War,’ a cinematic film that eventually found a home on Netflix.
She subsequently played Anita, a young London girl with a lot to hide, in “One Lagos Night,” which was released in 2021 and is exclusive to Netflix two years after filming.
She also portrayed Khafilat in the BAFTA-nominated short film “Lizard” (2020).
She was one of the first students enrolled to Ebonylife Creative Academy, hoping that her talents would be recognized.
She later appeared in short films such as “Monitoring Spirits,” where she won best supporting actress for her portrayal as “Sara.” Other short films include “Reflections”, “Focus”, and “IJO”.
Shortly, she got the notice of Director Kenneth Gyang, who referred her to Media Mogul Mo Abudu, the academy’s owner, to audition for the character of ‘Timeyin Ademola” in Netflix’s original and Nigerian’s first Netflix original crime thriller series, “Blood Sisters.”
She was cast to play Zina in “Far From Home” shortly after wrapping “Blood Sisters”.
