Gboyega Soyannwo Biography
Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo was born on October 3, 1968.
He received his basic education at Corona School Victoria Island in Lagos from 1974 to 1980, and his secondary education at the famed Kings College in Lagos from 1980 to 1985.
He then went to the Federal School of Arts and Science for his A-Levels, which he finished satisfactorily in 1987.
He then sought and was admitted to the University of Lagos, from which he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) Degree in Economics.
Gboyega Soyannwo also has an MBA (General Management) from the renowned Lagos Business School.
Gboyega Soyannwo Career
Gboyega Soyannwo began his work at the Central Bank of Nigeria in 1992 as a Youth Corps member.
He then worked in the following institutions, where he served in different capacities: Financial Services Consultants Limited, STACO Insurance Plc., and National Bank of Nigeria Limited (now WEMA Bank Plc).
He formerly worked for Zenith Bank Plc. and Oceanic Bank International Plc (now Eco Bank Plc.), where he was Group Head of Commercial Banking before joining First Class Group Limited as Director of Finance and Strategy in December 2009.
Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in banking, finance, performance management, general administration, and strategy.
He is passionate about strategic leadership and successful management.
Gboyega spent the early years of his banking career taking on roles that helped him develop his leadership and talent management skills.
He is a creative problem solver who continually exceeds expectations in terms of efficiency, production, and work quality.
It is a public record and a testament to this highly respected professional’s irrepressible personality that he led a team of young bankers some years ago in pioneering a Strategic Banking Unit to optimal profitability in the billions of Naira within an 18-month window, a clear testimony to Gboyega’s result-oriented approach and his ability to compete effectively and consistently deliver results through innovativeness and resilience.
A well-rounded professional with over thirty-one (31) years of experience in Banking, Financial Services, General Management, and Strategy, he effectively combines a strong academic background with extensive multi-sector experience, making him an ideal candidate for results-driven performance in both the private and public sectors.
Gboyega Soyannwo is the immediate-past Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Lagos State Governor (2019-2023).
His reappointment as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) to the Governor of Lagos State on June 8, 2023, demonstrates his diligence, selfless service to the State, and strong commitment to the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu / Obafemi Hamzat Administration during the first term, which ran from May 29, 2019, to May 26, 2023.
