Adebayo began acting in 1985, the same year that he appeared in his father’s first film, Ogun Ajaye.

Adebayo has appeared in almost 500 Nigerian films, receiving four honors for Best Yoruba Actor at the 17th African Film Honors, also known as the Afro Hollywood Awards, held at the Stratford Town Hall in London.

In 2012, he got an award in the same category from the Nollywood Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria Awards.

Adebayo has starred in numerous films, including Sonto Alapata, Wura Ati Fadaka, Ma Wobadan, and Buga, among others.

He is the MD and CEO of J-15 Media Network Nigeria.

Adebayo has signed on as an ambassador for the digital TV platform StarTimes.

In 2022, Femi Adebayo was nominated for Best Actor in A Comedy (AMVCA).

In July 2022, he was selected as the ambassador for Kubanah whisky, among some other Nollywood actors.

He divorced his first wife, who bore him three children because she was uncomfortable with him playing romantic parts.

He met Khadijhat in 1998, while she was a first-year computer science student and he was in his third year of law school.

Eight years after divorcing his first wife, he married Omotayo Maimunat Sanusi. Femi Adebayo and Omotayo Maimunat Sanusi married on October 9, 2016, and they have a son.

Femi’s second wife formerly worked as an air hostess before opening the “Iyan Aladuke” cafe on Montgomery Road in Yaba, Lagos.
