Dr Dragan Milic Biography
In his official biography, he states that he completed primary and secondary school in Prokuplje “as a student of his generation”.

“Prof. Dr. Dragan Milić has been employed at KC Niš since 1998. Since 2001, he has been working at the vascular surgery department of the Clinic for General Surgery of KC Niš as a general surgeon.
After completing the subspecialization in vascular surgery, he was assigned to the post of vascular surgery subspecialist in the Clinic for General Surgery of KC Niš.
After the establishment of the Clinic for Vascular Surgery, he was appointed to the position of head of the department of phlebology, and then to the position of assistant director of the Clinic for Vascular Surgery of KC Niš in 2008 and 2010,” he notes in his biography.
He adds that after the opening of the Clinic for Cardiovascular and Transplantation Surgery of KC Niš in November 2014, he was appointed its first director, and after the restructuring of KC Niš and the formation of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of KC Niš, in July 2017 he was appointed the first director of the Clinic.
He emphasizes that “he had numerous professional and scientific training abroad, namely in the USA and England”.

In March 2024, he formed a group of citizens that will participate in the local elections in Niš.
“Dr. Milić stated on his Facebook profile on behalf of the GG that they ‘can’t promise the citizens a bag of flour, two or three thousand dinars, or a job, not even a lighter or a pencil.’
“The only thing we can offer are our ideas on how to make Niš a richer, more decent, more beautiful, and fairer place to live.
“Without your support, our engagement will not make sense,” he said. For months, Dr. Milić criticized the government’s policy in Serbia and Niš, primarily in the field of health, and then announced the possibility of participating in the city elections in that city, so that it would be decided by those who live there, and not by Belgrade ‘by remote control’.
He also spoke about the pressures that Cardiosurgery and he suffered due to such actions, for the benefit of patients and citizens.

He was educated in several world centers and was a reviewer for several scientific journals. He was an editor for the field of vascular surgery in the Central European Journal of Medicine, a member of the editorial board of the journal Phlebology and Lymphology, and a member of the editorial board of the Phlebology Forum.

Who Is Dr Dragan Milic?
He was born in 1965 in Leskovac. He is currently the director of the Clinic for Cardiac Surgery in Niš.
He began his education in England, at the “Richard Lee” school, where he studied from 1969 to 1972. He finished elementary school and high school in Prokuplje.
In 1985, he graduated from ŠRO ABHO in Kruševac. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Niš in 1994 and passed the professional exam for a doctor of medicine in 1996.
He completed three specializations – general surgery (in Niš, 2001), vascular surgery (in Belgrade, 2004), and cardiac surgery (in Belgrade, 2017).
Since 2008, he has been the president of the Board of Directors of the Specialized Psychiatric Hospital “Gornja Toponica”.
In 2019, he was elected as an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Niš, and since June 2017, he has been the vice dean for international cooperation of that faculty.
He currently works as a doctor of medicine, and a specialist in general surgery, vascular surgery, and cardiac surgery at the Clinic for Cardiac Surgery in Niš. He has been the director of that clinic since its establishment in 2014.
The Ministry of Health appointed him as a member of the Republican Commission for the development of a guide to good clinical practice, and he was also appointed as the secretary of the working group for the development of a guide to good clinical practice for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic venous diseases.
He is a member of the working group formed by the World Association of Phlebologists, for the preparation of the European consensus document on the treatment of diseased veins using sclerotherapy.
He was the president of the European Association of Phlebologists from 2014 to 2015 and the president of the European Congress of Phlebologists, which was held in 2013 in Belgrade.
The Ministry of Justice chose him as a permanent forensic expert in the field of general and cardiovascular surgery.
He speaks English and also uses French.
He was also the president of the Balkan Association for Phlebology, the “Popliteal vascular entrapment” forum, the Association of Phlebologists of Serbia, the vice-president of the Serbian Association for Sclerotherapy, as well as an honorary member of the Romanian Association of Phlebologists.
