Born in Lagos State on September 14, 1978, Bright Okpocha is a Nigerian comedian and actor better known by his stage name, Basketmouth. Around the world, he has arranged well-known stand-up comedy shows including Basketmouth Uncensored.

Though originally from Abia State in Nigeria, Bright Okpocha was born in Lagos State. After completing his elementary and secondary education in Apapa, Lagos, he proceeded to study sociology and anthropology at the University of Benin in Edo State. In 1991, he became proficient in drumming, and in 1994, he started rapping.
He later founded a seven-member group called “Da Psychophats” that began performing live and rapping in 1995. However, the group disbanded before any music was released. Along with his brother Godwin and Muyiwa Ola-Phillips, he moved on to join another rap group called “Da Oddz.” They played a few gigs but were unable to gain popularity since their style of rap was not well-liked in Nigeria.
