Early career
In 2005, Azawi started her career as a dancer with the Kika dance team. They gave several stage performances as a group. She joined Crane Performers, a different dance group, four years later while she was still enrolled in school. She stopped dancing when she realized she was falling behind in her studies. Nevertheless, she made two trips to China with her company to do performances.
Music career
She began creating songs in 2011 as a hobby before understanding she could get paid for them. After her father passed away in 2012, she had to assist her mother in providing for her and her two siblings, which is why she focused on becoming a successful songwriter.
Azawi started creating songs at an early age, and because of her talent, she met Eddy Kenzo, who then introduced her to other musicians. She has composed music for performers such as Vinka, Eddy Kenzo, Carol Nantongo, Lydia Jazmine, and Nina Rose.
Later, in 2015, Azawi joined a band while working two jobs as a waiter at a restaurant her mother had recently opened.
After leaving her job as a waiter, she wrote “Quinamino,” intending to sell it. However, in August 2019, when she made her first appearance on Swangz Avenue, she received an offer to be featured on the label instead.
Her big break occurred in January 2020 when she dropped Quinamino, her debut track.
She was signed and introduced by Swangz Avenue management in November of that year, and in January 2020, she dropped her debut single under the company. With almost 20 songs under her belt, she remains signed to the same record label.

Azawi currently serves as a Guinness brand ambassador, a position that is shared by Nigerian Afropop singer Fireboy DML. This was further demonstrated in her most recent MAJJE video, in which Ugandan musician Fik Fameica appeared. as well as in her most recent sold-out first performance in July 2022 at Lugogo, Kampala.
In 2021, Azawi had an appearance at “Times Square” in both New York and Los Angeles, becoming the third and first female act from Uganda to be featured on a billboard, following Eddy Kenzo and Bobi Wine.
