Mr. A. Olawale Edun, often known as Wale Edun, holds an Economics Bachelor’s Degree from the University of London and an Economics Master’s Degree from the University of Sussex in England. It is not known when he was born or which elementary or secondary school he attended.

Wale Edun had a successful career in the financial industry working for both domestic and foreign businesses. He was in charge of the bank’s Treasury and Money Market activities while holding the positions of Head of Treasury and Deputy Head of Corporate Finance at Chase Merchant Bank. He also had primary responsibility for the Capital Market and Financial Advisory operations on behalf of the regional subsidiaries and affiliates of significant multinational corporations.

While on secondment at Lehman Brothers and Chase Manhattan Capital Markets Corporation on Wall Street in New York, USA, he obtained international exposure while working for Chase. He was employed at Chase Merchant Bank (later Continental) in Lagos from 1980 to 1986.

In September 1986, he began working at the World Bank/IFC in Washington, DC, through the prestigious Young Professionals program. Mr. Edun worked on economic and financial plans at the World Bank for a number of nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic, as well as for Indonesia and India in the Far East.

Since March 2008, he has presided at Chapel Hill Denham Group. He went back to Nigeria in 1989 in his capacity as Executive Director and Co-Founder of Stanbic IBTC Plc (formerly known as Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited). He established Denham Management Limited in 1994. In addition, he serves on the boards of several additional businesses. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ogoni Trust Fund for the Environmental Clean-up of Ogoniland in the Nigerian Niger Delta and is a director of numerous other private companies.

In addition to serving as Chairman of the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, a recognized non-profit youth development organization that jointly manages amateur boxing in Lagos with the Lagos Amateur Boxing Association, Wale is also an international trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation.

Adetomiwa Edun is an actor in the UK film industry, and another actor (Tobi Edun) is wed to Folake Fajemirokun, the successful business tycoon, entrepreneur, investor, venture capitalist, philanthropist, and chairman of Xerox Company Chief Oladele Fajemirokun’s daughter. It’s interesting to note that Chief Oladele’s wife, Edith Korantema Fajemirokun (Koranteng), is also a Ghanaian.

He was one of the ministerial nominees the National Assembly under the presidency of President Buhari intended to screen in October 2015. Little has been said about him after then.
