Meera Vasudevan Career

Her cinematic debut was in 2003 with the Hindi satirical comedy Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula, in which she co-starred with Milind Soman.

After about four years of failed screen tests, Prahlad Kakkar’s Setmax ad won the best ad campaign of the year, and she was noticed by director Parvati Balagopalan’s mother, who got her a screen test for Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula, for which she was nominated for best upcoming actress by Screen Awards and Sansui – PNC Awards.

Her Telugu film, Golmaa, was released first. The same year, she made her film debut in the Tamil film business, acting in Samuthirakani’s directorial debut, Unnai Saranadainthen, alongside Venkat Prabhu and S. P. B. Charan.

Critics praised her depiction of Bobby, an ardent country girl, in the film, and she received the Tamil Nadu State Film Special Award for Best Actress.

After unsuccessful films such as Anjali, I Love You in Telugu, and Arivumani in Tamil, she entered the Malayalam cinema business in 2005 with the Blessy-directed Thanmathra, co-starring Malayalam actor Mohanlal.

Her performance as Lekha Ramesan, a homemaker and mother of two children, got good feedback, and she received the Best Female New Face Award at the 2005 Ujala-Asianet Awards.

After three years, she returned to a Hindi film, Jaadu Sa Chal Gayaa, in 2006. She then participated in the Tamil comedy film Jerry as a police inspector and the Malayalam drama film Oruvan, in which she played a housewife once more.

Meera went on to star in other Malayalam-language films, including Ekantham, Valmeekam, and Kaakki, as well as two Hindi-language films, Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii and Thodi Life Thoda Magic, in 2007.

She made her television debut in Tamil and Malayalam with Penn and Kanalpoovu, respectively.

The later series garnered her the Kerala State Television Award for Best Actress, establishing her as a major personality in television and movies among Malayali audiences.

In 2009, she appeared in three Malayalam-language films: Orkkuka Vallappozhum, Decent Parties, and Vairam: Fight For Justice, in which she played a Malayali housewife whose daughter is abused and killed.

The fourth film, Aattanayagan, co-starred Sakthi Vasu and Remya Nambeeshan. After a sabbatical, she returned to Malayalam cinema in 2017 with Chakkaramaavin Kombathu and went on to play noteworthy roles in eccentric films such as Silence, Appuvinte Sathyanveshanam, Paykappal, and Panigrahanam.

In 2020, she shifted her concentration to television, playing the female lead Sumithra in the Malayalam television series Kudumbavilakku on Asianet and the antagonist in the Tamil series Chithi-2 on Sun TV, which helped her regain recognition among the South Indian audience.
