(born September 2, 1971) Micah “Katt” Williams The stand-up comedian and actor is American. He voiced Money Mike in Friday After Next, Bobby Shaw in My Wife and Kids, A Pimp Named Slickback in The Boondocks, Seamus in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and Lord Have Mercy in Norbit. He also appeared briefly on Wild ‘n Out. He performed his own voice in Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008.

Williams was raised in Dayton, Ohio, and was born Micah Williams on September 2, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 13, he relocated to Florida and established himself as a street seller to support himself.

Stand-up career

Williams began giving comedy performances in the Avondale district of Cincinnati.

He perfected his hilarious delivery by rehearsing his act in venues all around the country, from Oakland to Oklahoma. He had established himself as a comic by 1999, performing live at venues like The Improv, The Comedy Club, The Ice House, and The Hollywood Park Casino. Most famously, he performed as Katt “In the Hat” Williams on BET’s Comic View.

In 2006, he starred in Katt Williams: Live: Let a Playa Play, his debut comedy spectacular. The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1, his debut HBO stand-up special, was released in 2006. He was given the opportunity to make a movie/stand-up in 2007. He named it American Hustle. The movie received positive reviews and made Williams a well-known comic. His second HBO comedy special, It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’, which featured more political humor, was released in 2008. Williams, who kept himself busy by touring and making comedy DVDs, had a comedy tour that Billboard ranked the best of 2008. He resumed stand-up in 2012, four years after taking a break, for his third HBO comedy special, Kattpacalypse.

A day after an odd occurrence at a club in Seattle, Washington, that put him in jail, Williams announced the end of his stand-up comedy career on December 3, 2012. But three days later, he made the announcement that he was leaving retirement.

Williams announced and discussed his impending “Conspiracy Theory” tour in an interview on September 3, 2015, saying,

We are all familiar with the talk about conspiracies. We are aware that there are conspiracies, but this topic covers a lot of ground that isn’t being covered elsewhere. All conspiracy theories are based on the idea that there is secret information out there and how our thinking about things evolves over time. If we’re all at a particular age, we all had the misconception that Pluto was a planet at some point. Just because it’s a collection of taboo subjects that we can’t seem to obtain answers to, I think this will go down as one of my best pieces. I’m one of the uncommon urban public servants.

2018 saw the Netflix release of Williams’ newest stand-up special, Great America, which was filmed in Jacksonville, Florida.

Katt Williams Film and television career

On NYPD Blue in 2002, Williams made his acting debut. He became well-known while starring in Wild ‘n Out for numerous seasons. In 2003, he had an appearance in the official music video for Nick Cannon, a Wild ‘n Out bandmate, and his song “Gigolo.”

Williams acted as A Pimp Named Slickback’s voice actor in The Boondocks in 2007. In Grand Theft Auto IV, he portrays himself as a stand-up comedian who does various routines, including a condensed version of one of his routines from Katt Williams’ American Hustle. Williams has also performed rap verses for songs by musicians like Baby Bash, The Game, and Suga Free under the alias “Money Mike”. Williams joined the Diplomats, a group led by New York rapper Cam’ron, in 2006, but the label never officially signed him. Williams’ first studio/live album, titled It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’, was released on January 29, 2009. He and Hell Rell dissed Atlanta artist Trinidad James with the song “Lames in the Game” on November 19, 2013, in response to the rapper’s remarks on the status of modern hip-hop music.

Incidents at live shows

Williams’ performance at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 27, 2011, was marred by an incident in which he yelled, “…so if you love Mexico, bitch, get the fuck over there!” in response to a heckler who was later identified as being of Mexican descent. Williams claimed that the heckler was to blame for the event in a post-performance interview. “I have the right to defend my country if someone begins their jeering with ‘f’ America.” He did not retract his comments made during the concert, saying, “I don’t think I need to apologize for being pro-American.”

Williams’ combative attitude caused two live concerts in November 2012 to terminate early. He left the stage to confront a heckler during a performance on November 1 at the Denver Wells Fargo Theatre. Williams again got into a foul-mouthed argument with a heckler at a concert on November 16 at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. He was helped off stage by his own security team.

Williams was detained on November 13, 2006, at the Los Angeles International Airport when a stolen gun was discovered in his suitcase. He entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon on December 14, 2006, and was given a three-year probationary term, reparation requirements, and credit for three days he had already served in jail.

Williams was detained by law enforcement in November 2010 in Coweta County, Georgia, while producing a movie. He was charged with stealing jewels and coins totaling $3,500. On a $40,000 bond, he was released the next day. He was afterwards accused by police of burglary and criminal trespass.

Williams was detained on June 11, 2011, in relation to an alleged assault on a tractor driver. Around 4:30 p.m. local time, three ladies allegedly approached the alleged victim’s tractor and attacked him with rocks and dirt clods, causing facial injuries. Officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and detained Williams for felony witness intimidation while also detaining the three women for assault with a deadly weapon. Williams was arrested and later freed the same evening after posting $50,000 bail.

He was detained on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on November 15, 2012, in Oakland, California, after reportedly using a bottle to beat an 18-year-old Berkeley, California, man on Williams’ tour bus.

Days after Williams’ abbreviated performance in Oakland’s Oracle Arena on November 16, 2012, a class action lawsuit was launched by a fan seeking damages on behalf of himself and “all others who paid money for a show and got nothing but Katt Williams’ nonperformance.”

Williams was detained in Seattle on December 2, 2012, as a result of an alleged altercation at a South Lake Union pub. His arrest followed his failure to appear for the first night of a scheduled two-night engagement at the Paramount Theatre on November 29, 2012. A bench warrant from an incident on November 25, 2012, in Sacramento, where he reportedly rode a three-wheeled motorcycle on a sidewalk and refused to stop for police, led to his arrest five days later in Dunnigan, California. Williams almost missed many spectators during the ensuing chase, which was put on hold out of concern for safety and led to the issuance of the bench warrant.

Williams was detained in Los Angeles on December 28, 2012, on suspicion of endangering children. His four children were taken into protective custody, and he was detained in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

He was taken into custody on January 8 at his residence in Los Angeles after failing to appear in Sacramento to address the motorbike allegations from November 25.

On March 23, 2016, a video of Williams fighting with a 17-year-old boy after an argument after a soccer match in Gainesville went viral. The D.A. and the authorities intended to discuss the incident in addition to his ongoing legal matters.

Williams was detained on April 27, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia, and charged with violence when it was claimed that he struck the manager of the nearby eatery Spondivits with a salt shaker. When Williams’ group wasn’t given priority seating, the manager allegedly got smacked in the mouth with a salt shaker.

Following an argument with a woman at the Sportsman’s Lodge, a motel in Sherman Oaks, California, on July 24, 2016, he was detained on suspicion of violence.

In connection with this latest arrest, the comedian was accused of throwing a man’s cellphone on February 28, 2016.

Williams was charged with assault in the fourth degree on October 6, 2018, in Portland, Oregon, after assaulting a Town Car driver over his dog. In addition, a warrant from Georgia was used to arrest him.
