
Rajiv Ranjan Jdu Spokesperson Biography
Born on January 24, 1955, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also called Lalan Singh, is an Indian politician who has held the positions of third minister of fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying since 2024 and eleventh minister of Panchayati raj since 2024.
In the 17th Lok Sabha, he represents Munger as a Member of Parliament for Janata Dal (United).
From July 31, 2021, until December 29, 2023, he served as JDU (Janta Dal United) national party president.
He was also the previous President of the JD(U) Bihar unit.
Following his defeat in the May 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he was nominated in June 2014 to become a member of the Bihar Legislative Council.
He represented the Munger Lok Sabha seat in Bihar as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India.
Additionally, he served as the Indian representative for Begusarai in the 14th Lok Sabha.

Singh was born on January 24, 1955, into a Bhumihar family in Village Gilanichak, PO+PS Chandi Nalanda district, Bihar.
His parents were Jwala Prasad Singh and Kaushalya Devi.
He received his Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from Bhagalpur University’s T.N.B. College.
As the General Secretary of the College Students Union, Singh had taken part in the Jayaprakash Narayan-led demonstrations in 1974.
Singh is wed to Renu Devi, and the two of them have a daughter.

When Lalan Singh rebelled against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in 2010, he was the President of the Bihar JDU and represented the Munger constituency in Bihar.
He later remained an unattached member of JD(U). The party called for his disqualification in the Lok Sabha, but after he reconciled with Nitish Kumar in 2013, the move was withdrawn.
He received a ticket to run for the Munger Lok Sabha constituency, but Veena Devi of the LJP won by almost a million votes.
In June 2014, he was appointed as the Minister for Road Construction Department in the Jitan Ram Manjhi cabinet after being nominated to the Bihar Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.
Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, who later defected to the BJP with a group of twelve MLAs, led a mutiny in the JDU following his entrance and elevation despite the party’s electoral defeat.
In February 2015, Jitan Ram Manjhi removed him and Prashant Kumar Shahi from the cabinet.
Nitish Kumar was re-inducted as a Minister in the Mahagathbandhan Government upon his appointment as Chief Minister.
