Chelsea Tables £40–£45m Offer for Everton Star Anthony Gordon
Chelsea has officially submitted a £40 million to £45 million bid for Everton’s rising star, Anthony Gordon, signaling serious intent to bring the 21-year-old attacker to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.
The London club’s interest in Gordon has been ongoing, but this is the first formal offer on the table.
Despite the sizeable fee, Everton remains unconvinced, as they weigh their limited attacking depth against potential financial gains.

Why Chelsea Wants Anthony Gordon
Chelsea has been heavily active in the transfer market under new ownership, spending more than £170 million already this summer.
But the club is still in search of fresh attacking options, especially with the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.
Anthony Gordon, known for his speed, dribbling, and versatility, has emerged as a top target.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined, Gordon has featured prominently as a false nine in Everton’s opening fixtures — further highlighting his adaptability.
Premier League Stats for Gordon:
Appearances: 51
Goals: 4
Age: 21
Position: Winger/Attacker
What’s Holding Everton Back?
Despite Chelsea’s tempting bid, Everton manager Frank Lampard is reluctant to lose one of his few remaining attacking assets.
The club has already lost Richarlison to Spurs and remains thin in forward areas.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher weighed in on Sky Sports:
“It’s a lot of money (£40m) for a young player who is just coming onto the scene, but I don’t see how Everton could accept that.
He’s the one big hope for the club. The fans are relying on him, and given their start to the season, they need him now more than ever.”
How Gordon Caught Attention
Gordon’s work rate and flair on the ball have made him a fan favorite at Goodison Park.
His standout moment came last December when his free kick led to Jarrad Branthwaite’s equalizer against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
However, Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness offered a more measured take:
“£40m for someone who’s played just over 50 games and hasn’t set the heather on fire yet?
He’s got potential, sure, but that’s a steep price.”
Chelsea’s Transfer Window So Far
Chelsea’s new ownership duo, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, are not holding back.
Their summer haul already includes:
Raheem Sterling – £47.5m
Marc Cucurella – £63m
Kalidou Koulibaly – £34m
Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina, and possibly more
They’re also in ongoing negotiations for:
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Barcelona)
Wesley Fofana (Leicester)
Cesare Casadei (Inter Milan)
Will Gordon Stay or Go?
Chelsea’s bid has certainly put pressure on Everton, especially with the clock ticking on the transfer window.
But unless the Toffees find suitable attacking replacements, letting Gordon go could spark backlash from fans and hurt their chances of Premier League survival.
Expect more drama in the coming days as Chelsea pushes hard and Everton digs in.
