Kayode Egbetokun Early Life and Education
On September 4, 1964, in Erinja, in the Yewa South local government area of Ogun state, Egbetokun was born. In June 1987, he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
A master’s degree in engineering analysis was later awarded to him in 1996. He gave a quick math lecture at Yaba College of Technology.
After that, he graduated with an MBA from Lagos State University in 2004 and a postgraduate diploma in petroleum economics from Delta State University in 2000.
Additionally, he graduated with a PhD in Peace and Security Studies from Al-Hikmah University in Kwara State’s Ilorin.

On March 3, 1990, Egbetokun enrolled as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in the Nigerian Police Force.
He was named chief security officer to Bola Tinubu, the then-elected governor of Lagos State and current President of Nigeria, in 1999 while serving as a deputy superintendent of police.
He has held positions as Chief Superintendent of Police, Administration, Area Commander, Osogbo, Osun State Command, and Area Commander, Gusau, Zamfara State Command; Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos; Squadron Commander, MOPOL, Anti-Fraud Unit, FCT Command, Abuja; and Chief Superintendent of Police, Lagos State Command headquarters, Ikeja.
President Tinubu named Egbetokun to succeed Usman Alkali Baba on June 19, 2023.
He was the South-West geopolitical zone’s supervising DIG and deputy inspector general of police before being appointed inspector general.
He has been leading the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) at Force Headquarters, Abuja, since 6 April 2023.
