Jade Ewen Biography
Born on January 24, 1988, Jade Louise Ewen is a British singer, actor, and former Sugababes member. Her singing career started in the female trio Trinity Stone, who secured a record deal with Sony BMG in 2005 but broke up without putting out an album in 2007. She performed the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Diane Warren song “It’s My Time” to represent the United Kingdom in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest after winning the right. She came in sixth place overall.
In September 2009, Ewen controversially took Keisha Buchanan’s spot in the Sugababes group. Before splitting up in 2011, the trio released two UK top-ten singles and a top-fifteen album after joining.

2002–2009 Early career and Eurovision
Ewen had an appearance on the How To Dance children’s dance DVD. She made a brief appearance in the “What I Go to School For” music video by Busted. She made an appearance in the Noggin series Out There from 2003 to 2004. Ewen joined the female group Trinity Stone in 2005 after they acquired a record deal with Sony BMG. The band broke up in 2007. After seeing her work on MySpace, rapper Kwamé encouraged her to record with him. 2008 saw the release of her digital song “Got You” via Kwame’s Make Noise label. 2009–2011 Sugababes and solo projects
As Keisha Buchanan’s replacement, Ewen joined Sugababes in September 2009. The week she joined the trio, her song “My Man” was released, but the marketing for it was canceled. Still, it made its debut on the UK Singles Chart at number 35. In a BBC interview, Ewen stated that her solo album had been placed on hold and that her dedication to the Sugababes remained her top priority.
Before the Sugababes’ “About a Girl” video shoot in Los Angeles, two days had passed since Ewen was flown there and she had no idea that she would be taking Buchanan’s place. In the UK, “About a Girl” opened at number eight. Following several delays in 2009, Sweet 7 was finally released in early 2010 and peaked at number 14 on the UK Albums Chart. “Wear My Kiss”—the second song using Ewen’s vocals—peaked at number seven in the UK.
In April 2010, the Sugababes started working on their eighth studio album. Ewen was named Miss Ultimo lingerie’s face at the end of 2010. Ewen announced on March 15, 2013, that Sugababes would create new songs at some point in the year, saying, “I believe we’ll get back together at the end of the year.” More recordings are undoubtedly in the works, but no release date has been announced as of yet.” She said on August 1, 2013, that the Sugababes were “pretty much done” and that they will no longer be recording in the studio together.
Ewen performed as Clara, a supporting character, in the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Porgy and Bess during the summer of 2014.
