Hafsat Idris Barauniya Background
Hafsat Idris Barauniya, who began working at Kannywood eight years ago, is regarded as one of the wealthiest actresses in the business.
The actress, born in Sokoto and whose marriage ended after four kids, has appeared in numerous films and advertisements.
She talks about her family, misunderstandings about her fortune, work obstacles, and ambitions for the future in this conversation with Labaranyau.
You have become a celebrity since our last interview, following the release of your first movie, Barauniya. What’s fresh?
To be honest, the interview and the movie Barauniya gave me new opportunities. I am unable to include every movie I have been in at this time because there are so many, and fortunately, the majority of them have been successful. This is a result of my senior colleagues in the industry cooperating with me.
You had four kids and were divorced before joining Kannywood. How is family life going, and what’s up with your kids’ lack of behavior?
Yes, I’m from Sokoto State, and before my father passed away, my parents lived in Shagamu, where I got married.
My four kids are one boy and three girls. My mother is still living, and my first daughter also got married. In actuality, my mother still appears to be in her early years.
I’m glad I decided to join Kannywood because it’s helped my career to this day. I have been in several ads, and I will continue to do so, but my fame comes at a cost.
You also inquired as to why my kids weren’t actors. Since I work in the business, I can tell you why I didn’t let them pursue performing careers. But I will give in if they are adamant. My top goal is to provide them with a Western-style education as well as an Islamic one.
Do you intend to get married again?
Regarding marriage, well, I’ve already been married once, and since I’m still young, with God’s grace, I will get married again.
I was completely involved with Yusuf Buhari and Zahra Nasiru Ado Bayero’s recent wedding if you recall.
One of the Kannywood girls who was invited to the wedding up at the Villa in Abuja was me.
Events like these offer the chance to network with influential people. The sky is therefore not my limit; rather, it is the start of my achievement.
What brought you to Kannywood?
My marriage ended, and I began traveling to Kano to purchase merchandise to sell in Shagamu. When I went to the GSM Market on Zaria Road one day while I was in Kano to buy a phone, I ran across some Kannywood members who were filming a scene.
I then went up to one of them and expressed my interest in acting. After exchanging numbers, he offered me a script over the phone.
He didn’t get in touch with me for the assignment for six months. In the movie Barauniya, I was cast among veteran actors and actresses Ali Nuhu, Hauwa Waraka, and others. I was able to receive additional film opportunities in this way.
Rumors are circulating that you suddenly become wealthy. How did this happen?
I shouldn’t be promoting myself as a product. There are nasty apples in every community, but I was fortunate in my situation.
I made a lot of money from the advertisements I received from large corporations. I continue to work on advertisements since that’s how I make my money.
In addition to occasionally working for other companies, I like social media and writing.
What is your last statement then?
To wrap up the conversation, let me express my gratitude to the media for never having put me in danger and my hope that this won’t happen again.
