Six People Killed Over Land Tussle In Kogi State

 

Resource conflict deteriorated as gunmen killed six people in the Bagana community of Omala local government, Kogi state over a land tussle.

It said that the attack took place the early morning of Monday 25th of  October in Bagana community causing lives and several minor and many major casualties besides the damage and property loss encountered, forcing locals to abandon their homes and businesses flying away from their bases. The incident is fully confirmed by the locals as a communal crisis between the Bagana and Patami community and not any other kind for sure, also the local police authorities confirmed it.

The report has it that the assailant attacked as early as 7:30 am when the community was somehow more vulnerable as almost all the community youth went out to farm leaving mostly women and children with the olds as victims of the attack, houses and businesses were ruined, the palace and the vehicle of the traditional community ruler were also destroyed.

The local government Chairman Ibrahim Abo appealed to the youth of the affected community to remain calm on the situation on his visit to the community after the attack. The state’s effort in resolving the dispute was enforced as the state Commissioner of police Dabban Idirisu gathered special troops of the command into the Bagana community for onsite assessments.
